For the Reader

My Christmas Reading List

I love everything about the Christmas season including a dazzling array of holiday themed reads! I love taking a break from the hectic schedule of Christmas shopping, parties and yuletide activities by sitting int he soft glow of our Christmas tree with a cup of coffee and a good book. If you are looking for a seasonal read this December, here are the books on my reading list:

The Christmas Guest by Peter Swanson – Finished

This was the first book to kick off my Christmas reading and I started it just after Thanksgiving. I loved it! It hit all my favorite holiday book notes – mystery, British countryside estate, NYC, family dysfunction and plenty of holiday traditions. If you love a dark holiday tale you won’t be disappointed.

The Gift by Freida McFadden – Finished

You can finish this book in one sitting if you can find that much time in between holiday shopping, decorating and the myriad seasonal events cluttering your calendar. A creepy twist on O. Henry’s The Gift Of The Magi, it’s definitely worth a read sometime in the next two weeks.

Always In December by Emily Stone – Currently Reading

This is our current book club pick and I’d better finish by our meeting on the 15th. It’s an easy read, chock-filled with all the holiday notes we love in a Christmas romance – chilly London weather, a distracting stranger with an air of mystery and two characters who surprisingly hate Christmas. How will it come together? Who knows, but I’m enjoying this quick, fun read so far.

Dying For Christmas by Tammy Cohen

The Amazon reviews sold me on this book so if nothing else, please remember to leave reviews for books you purchase. They really do help with sales. A chance meeting Christmas shopping, a too-good-to-be-true mystery man and a spontaneous decision to spend Christmas with his family are all the right components for a Christmas thriller. Fourth on my list, I hope it’s cold enough here in Southern California so I can light the fireplace and snuggle up with this scary book.

So, This Is Christmas by Tracy Andreen

A YA Christmas book? Yes, please! No surprise I picked this one up since I am a YA author myself. I love remembering what being a teenager is like – the high stakes of everything, discovering the world around you and your position in it and more often than not lack of adult responsibilities – it’s such a treat to walk through those years again knowing I can close the book and be rid of the angst, acne and drama.

The Christmas Swap by Sandy Barker

I might have bitten off more than I can chew by throwing this on my Christmas TBR (To Be Read List), but it looks like a sweet little romcom read so I had to pick it up. Worst comes to worst, it will be the first on my list next year.

My New Year’s Read: This Time Next Year by Sophie Cousens

I’m not going to lie, I picked this one up solely to read on New Year’s Day. I love finding books who weave their stories around holidays and this one was a lucky find. I haven’t read too many books centered around NYE, so this was a must read for me. Hopefully I’ll be well on my way of achieving my GoodReads Reading Goals when the first week of January 2024 ends.

Do you have a favorite holiday book you read every year? Are you currently reading a holiday themed book you can’t put down? Drop me a note and let me know. I can add it to my TBR for next year.

Happy Holidays🎄📚
