Now that FALLING STAR is in stores everywhere, I have a to tackle a pile of chores that I’ve neglected while writing. Springtime is the perfect opportunity for this writer to take a break from work to tidy up the house and switch up my daily routine. Here is my list of things to do:
- Too Many T-Shirts – where do they all come from? With warmer weather, it’s the perfect time to get rid of stained or ill-fitting tees and tanks. Same with the rest of my closet. A good spring cleaning helps my wardrobe stay current and inspires me to hit the gym before bathing suit season takes full effect
2. Let’s Get Physical – I’ll forego the headband and unitard, but being in between projects is the perfect time to find a new exercise class to get in shape for the summer. I just tried a very intense Pilates Reformer class and I think I’m going to continue to shop around. I need to get into much better shape before I take any more of those classes
3. Walk the Dog – Now that the rainy days are over, my faithful writing companion and perpetual couch potato, Phoebe, can definitely use some more time walking the neighborhood and enjoying the longer days.
4. Summer Camp Scramble – Parents round the globe are currently in a cutthroat competition to get their kiddos registered in camps. It’s hard to write a novel with your eleven year old playing Battlefront with his best friends one room away. A couple of well-scheduled camps will ensure my writing doesn’t take a forced vacation this summer.
5. Clean out my Garage – I don’t know how my garage is always in constant disarray, but it once again it’s a tangled hodgepodge of items. But in Saturdays sorting sessions should have it organized in no time!
6. Read More – Longer hours means more time outside in my hammock for reading. Self-care is just as important as a clean garage so it’s on the list!
7. Barbecue Maintenance – Time to scrub the grills, fire up the BBQ and get ready for cooking outside for the next six months. It doesn’t even feel like a chore when I can cook outside as the sun sets, enjoying the warm weather.
8. Rosé – Technically not a chore, but I enjoy switching up my cocktails depending on the season. Rosé, a chilled Sav Blanc or a fruity mixed drink are always fun to share with friends at the end of a long day.
9. Christmas Shopping? – Any time the seasons switch, I keep an eye out in the stores for bargain prices as merchants switch their seasonal wares. I’ve gotten some screaming deals on Christmas gifts that I squirrel away until December. The only snag in this plan is remembering where I’ve hidden. Remembering in December where I stashed that gorgeous winter sweater I got on clearance in April can be a bit of a challenge.
10.Dust my bookshelves – This is the one I look forward to the most. Weeding out books I’m never going to get around to reading (like that book I won at a mom’s coffee group meeting four years ago), rearrange the order of my TBR and maybe picking out some books I’m ready to let go of to make room for new books.
Good luck with whatever Spring time chores you’ve got scheduled. Whatever you do, hop you leave some time to read.
Happy Wednesday🧹🏖
