In case I haven’t mentioned it lately, writing is hard! Building a world, creating an exciting story with plot twists and engrossing character arcs…it’s an overwhelming amount of work.
And then there’s the mechanics of it all. The grammar, the formatting and the spelling. Not only does the comma continue to baffle me (introductory, FANBOY, coordinating conjunctive, listing, joining, bracketing, gapping, Oxford…stop me before I pass out! Were you aware there were so many types of commas?!?) but spelling is another speedbump I hit on the road to a finished novel.
Here is a list of words I consistently misspell. Some of these I muck up so badly my computer’s spell check feature cannot identify the word I’m trying to spell.
Fuchsia
Hors d’oeuvres
Niece
Vinyl
Yogurt
Disastrous
Fluorescent
I misspelled five of these words just typing this list.
Once you’ve stopped laughing at my list, drop me a note and let me know what word you most often misspell.
TV Pilot Script Update: 23 pages (up 11 from last week). Not nearly finished, but life has gotten in my way. If only I could lock myself in a room to finish it.
Think this place has good wi-fi?
